SURF TRAVEL SYSTEM

Designed in the rugged and remote testing grounds of a swell drenched corner of the Pacific ocean called New Zealand, Curve presents a breath of surf gear fresh air. A surf system of 11 unique and innovative hardware accessories for core surfers, who realise that he who travels lightest and with the best protection, wins.

Curve is a surf hardware system that steps outside the circle and brings together some long sought-after functionality to the travel obsessed sport of surfing.

Each product has been specifically designed to increase surf travel performance, minimise hassles, and lighten the load for the travelling surfer in ways not before seen. Whats more, while each product works in its own right, they have also been designed to interact with other products in the system.

System examples;

BOARDCARRY BACKPACKS - not only carry gear, they also suspend a surfboard or surfboard bag in hands free comfort. 

DAY CARRY SLINGS - when surfboards are stored in a boardbag, a sling divider wraps around the surfboard to stop wax transfer. By connecting the boardbag shoulder strap, the same board sling also functions as a day carry sling for day trips.

WATERMAN BACKPACK - the sling or boardbag also hooks up to the boardcarry backpack, allowing the surfer to trek to the beach, and then surf in the same backpack – all while staying hydrated with the water bladder.

SLEEPMAT – secures inside the special Cleanzone compartment inside the boardbag, providing an ever present comfortable sleep surface - along with the added benefit of boosted surfboard protection.

CHANGEBAG – stores inside backpacks or boardbags to keep the sand on the beach where it belongs, separate out wet gear from dry, and protect the boot of your car from rusting out.

INNOVATION

Our idea of innovation doesn’t mean changing the colour/logo or making something 2% lighter and 20% more expensive.  Instead we like to reinvent the wheel.  For example the unique OVERSTAYER multi boardbag design offers full surfboard protection for up to 3 surfboards and weighs up to 50% less than traditional surfboard coffins.  Because the Overstayer has been designed with a ‘burrito’ style closure, it fits one surfboard as well as it fits three, which means a surfer can use the same boardbag for local travel with one surfboard, as for international travel with 3 surfboards.

We also re-invented the softrack from a single webbing strap, so that it loops around your boards and secures them so well they wont budge against wind blasts from oncoming trucks. The padded LOCKDOWN version protects surfboard rails with padding like no other.

The TRAVEL RACK version is the worlds smallest softrack, the pouch fits in one hand and is perfect for travelling surfers fitting in luggage and securing up to 6 shortboards!

MOTIVATION

Curve came into being when a couple of surfers got fed up with the limitations of the standard surf gear they used during their travels around the globe. Nothing on the market seemed to really satisfy their surf travel needs. After too many bad sleeps from being waxed into uncomfortable boardbags not designed to be slept in, struggling through airports with boardbags not designed to be easily carried, and suffering from not having the right equipment because it didn’t fit in, they thought there had to be a better way. As a result the Curve surf travel system has been designed by surfers, for surfers – providing a range of surf travel products that is smarter than your average gear.

BACKGROUND

We know surfing. We know the highs.  We know the lows. We’ve scored perfection by hiking over to the next bay, stacked boards till the car roof dents, seen them bounced by baggage handlers, and slept in our boardbags to wake up to surf on our doorstep.  We’ve been there and we’ve loved it and we’ve learned.  And its made us want to make surf gear better.  To discuss, develop, test, argue and design a better way.  And to make stuff that makes sense and makes you think ‘why didn’t I think of that? 

It’s no secret that the world is a busy place.  You’re not monks.  You deal with work, relationships, computers, phones, lawns, bills, and family…. and there are those times the conditions look sketchy and you’re weighing up whether to surf or not.  Calculating the effort involved and the likelihood of scoring good waves.  Our aim is to minimise the things that might hold you back, so we designed our surf travel system around this, to increase your mobility finding waves and to better protect your gear.   Ultimately we’d like to make you better prepared for going surfing, but if we can even help motivate you to just get out there we’re plenty happy with that too.
